Case Study

Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF)

The South Beach Wine & Food Festival is one of the biggest food and wine fundraisers in the country, consisting of more than 100 events across a five-night and three-day span.

OBJECTIVE

The South Beach Wine & Food Festival is one of the biggest food and wine fundraisers in the country, consisting of more than 100 events across a five-night and three-day span. As the regional PR firm, we are tasked with securing abundant long and short-lead coverage in both English and Spanish-language media outlets across all platforms. Beyond simple storytelling meant to sell tickets, we must also differentiate the Festival from others like it, always mindful of its position in the marketplace, and reinforcing the charity aspects of it.

STRATEGY

We begin working on the Festival six months in advance, as it takes place annually in late-February. At that time, we work to compile our media lists which feature hundreds of print and digital publications, freelancers and broadcast media throughout Florida and the Americas. In order to build anticipation and raise awareness, we then create an integrated and strategic press calendar highlighting the drop dates for different announcements (website now live, tickets now on sale, etc.) as well as begin hashing out unique pitches for future features. In the immediate, we work industriously to secure bountiful items in order to get the word out about the coming Festival, get consumers and the media excited and begin sowing the seeds for wide-scale broadcast coverage in the months leading up to and during the Festival.

OUTCOME

As a result of our annual press successes, we have been with the Festival for more than a decade. In fact, we are preparing now for our 12th Festival, a record for any of the firms that have represented SOBEWFF since its inception. By virtue of our creativity and by maximizing the events unique aspects and story-worthy qualities, we secure full-court press on the Festival which has helped it raise millions of dollars and awareness for its beneficiary the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.

“The team at Brustman Carrino Public Relations is efficient, detail-oriented, creative, and professional, and it is reassuring to know that the Festival is being represented to members of the press by their talented team. They work continuously to identify new opportunities, generate unique pitch ideas, develop relationships, and promote the strategic brand priorities for the Festival each year.”
